Following a recent meeting of the Benevolence Sub-Committee and the agreement of the Provincial Grand Master, the Provincial Grand Lodge nominated charity for this year will be The Mark Wright Project.
The Mark Wright Project
The Aims of The Project are to seek to provide bespoke early intervention, post conflict trauma recovery, rehabilitation facilities and services for serving military personnel. The project aims to work with and for the MOD in meeting their duties in addressing service men and women's post conflict health and wellbeing needs. Additionally, the project seeks to provide opportunities, funding and support to enable veterans to access respite/retreat, leisure and recreation activities and centres.
Coporal Mark Wright GC, a paratrooper with the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment, was killed in action on September 6 2006 while serving in Afghanistan. Mark was a Master Mason of Lodge St Clair, Edinburgh No 349 and the son of Brother Bob Wright PM of that Lodge.
It is the hope of the Provincial Grand Lodge that all Lodges in the Province will fully support this most worthy cause.
